Washington here we come!

After 4 or 5 years at CSU, Erin and Tanner have graduated and have moved to Washington. Erin has a degree in History and is seeking teacher licensing in secondary education. Tanner recently commissioned into the Air Force and has been assigned to McChord AFB, WA. And so we went...

The move was awesome. We justified all the fun we had by doubling it our 1st anniversary vacation. Our route was very scenic; along the way we stayed in a bavarian hotel called the Alpenholf in Teton Village before venturing into Teton National Park. In Jackson we took in a chuck wagon dinner with the Bar J Wranglers. Erin pinched a moose on the butt and it made a local bear really mad. Luckily the local frontiersmen were able to fight them off. All the while... Tanner was sidetracked with some natives we had ran into at the Bar J.

We were also able to rent a little boat on Jackson Lake. We had heard there were bears in the area, and after the events of the night before, we were optimistic we might see one. We cruised the edges of the lake and went out to an island. We did not see any real bears, but we chased a beaver a little. The water was very clear and very cold. We had a little engine malfunction and were stranded for a while in the lake... thunderheads were building and it began to rain. We got some help from a local fisherman who said he had caught 41 trout that morning. We spent some time trying to figure out the namesake of the locally French named mountain range.

After out Jackson Hole excursion, we went up into Yellowstone. The Jackson Hole/Yellowstone combination was decidedly awesome. A definite repeat...and because we left one of our cars and our dog in Colorado, we will probably be making the drive again soon.
